Quartz occurs in both a crystalline and polycrystalline variety. Crystalline quartz consists of relatively large crystals that are usually visible to the unaided eye, while polycrystalline quartz is fine-grained and consists of masses of minute crystals.

Citrine

Citrine is a variety of quartz ranging in colour from yellow, through yellow-brown, orange and dark orange-brown, to reddish-brown. Citrine crystals can form together with Amethyst or smoky quartz to form a bi-coloured quartz called Ametrine.
