Wise ways to Care for pearls
1. It is important to wear your pearls every now and again. Pearls are quite absorbent, which allows them to become infused by the natural oils your skin keeping them moisturised and lustrous. Wearing them once every four months or so will keep them looking their best.
2. Apply your makeup and perfume before you put on your pearl jewellery; your pearls will stay cleaner and look their most lustrous.
3. Pearls can be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution. Never clean your pearls with solutions that contain ammonia or harsh detergents.
4. Don't use abrasive cleaners or rub pearls with abrasive cloth.
5. Don't store your pearls with other jewellery, because they can be scratched easily when metal or gemstones rub against them. (All jewellery from Astley Clarke will arrive in a soft pouch which is perfect for storing your pearls)
6. Your fine pearl necklaces should be restrung periodically so that you're sure the silk or nylon cord holding them is in good shape. Please contact our personal shoppers to discuss having your pearl jewellery re-strung.
